We Can All Make Music.
Onward
Our goals and strategies
We have
a plan. It’s the way we intend to
go about achieving our fundamental aim: to make a significant contribution to
the development of a state of singing by building the confidence of everyday people,
in all their diversity, thereby enabling them to re-discover their own innate
capacities to enjoy making music together.
We've
established six areas in which development is necessary and possible, and have
devised strategies which will achieve positive results in each area.
To facilitate the development of useful skills among all those involved in
group music-making.
To extend and develop the concept of group music-making so that it becomes
a widespread and joyful part of Victorian culture.
To provide access to the materials and information necessary to facilitate
universal participation in group music-making.
To assist the development of active and independent networks of
individuals, groups, organisations and agencies that are, or have the potential
to become, involved in group music-making.
To develop effective arguments for the public support of group music-making
and to effectively express these arguments in advocacy of group music-making.
To develop an organisational base for the support of group music-making which is effective and sustainable.
Develop the skills of emerging community activists to establish, lead and
manage singing and instrumental circles, sessions and groups.
Develop the skills of working musicians to lead community-based singing and
instrumental circles, sessions and groups.
Develop the skills of established community singing leaders and community
music facilitators and encourage them to pass on their skills to emerging
leaders.
Develop the skills of singing leaders and community music facilitators to
work with un-willing or reluctant participants in problematic contexts.

work with un-expecting or nervous participants in public gathering contexts.

practically demonstrate the joyful effects of singing together to sceptical
participants.

singing through the introduction of different forms (vocal percussion, beatbox,
instrumentally accompanied singing, collective karaoke, singalong, rhythmic and
percussive movement, etc).

into new communities, demographics and locales.

establish singing circles (particularly within marginalised and isolated
communities).

singing circles and groups by specialist skill developers.

musics suitable for choral performance.

distributable data about group music makers (groups and leaders).

information to those with the potential to take advantage of it.
